E-Books at Ebrary|

A collection of JISC sponsored e-books (2900) covering all subject areas, accessible via Shibboleth. Search features include general or advanced - keyword, full-text, publisher, or author. Access Ebrary’s “Knowledgebase for Customer” to view support documents. Click here| for instructions on how to log on. Click here| for information on Ebrary usage and functionality.  

Books cannot be downloaded, you can only copy and print a maximum of 20 pages.

A JISC funded collections of high quality film, video and sound materials that can be downloaded fully or in part. Materials here can be freely used in learning, teaching or research but terms and condition differ depending on the collection:

Digital Images in Education: Realising the Vision|

A JISC book on how digital communities and sectors can work towards overcoming the barriers to access and usage and ensuring that common solutions become embedded within learning, teaching and research communities, and beyond.  General knowledge and information on digital communities is readily available from the book which also attempts to influence policy, practice and funding decisions.

British Periodicals Online|  

This database traces the development and growth of the periodical press in Britain from its origins in the seventeenth century through to the Victorian 'age of periodicals' and consists of two separate collections, British Periodicals Collection I and Collection II. 

Collection I comprises more than 160 journals from the UMI microfilm collection Early British Periodical - with topics covering literature, philosophy, history, science, the fine arts and the social sciences.

Collection II comprises more than 300 journals covering literature, music, art, drama, archaelogy and architecture from the UMI microfilm collections - English Literary Collections and British Periodicals in the Creative Arts.

 

ESDS International|

ESDS is jointly run by Mimas and UK Data Archive and provides free macro and micro international data sets to FE and HE institutions in UK. These include major statistical releases from organistions such as World Bank, IMF, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development and United Nations. Topics covered include national accounts, industrial production, employment, trade, energy, demography, human development and other indicators of national performance and development. Also included are questionnaire datasets covering social science topics such as household and demographic information, income, employment, education and housing.

A list of 92 historical interview collections from the past and present. The video recordings cover eras such as the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s and Walter Cronkite on his news reporting of the first man that walked on the moon. Other interviews are of history in the making, with current figures in academia, politics and business.
