This post is for 24 hours per week and 36 weeks per annum (Term Time Only)

JOB ROLE DUTIES

The postholder will be responsible to the Hospitality Facilities Supervisor for the following:

Maintaining cleanliness of teaching rooms, kitchens and ancillary equipment;

Helping where necessary in all areas of the kitchen;

Assisting Chef/Lecturers in kitchens with their day-to-day operation;

Reporting all mechanical faults and breakages;

Checking that all commodities are in the kitchen, ready to commence lessons;

Assisting students during practical classes to support their learning under the supervision of the class tutor.

Cleaning and maintaining public areas

NB: Adequate training, including training in safe working practices, will be provided.

Qualifications / Experience

Good basic standard of education   ~  Desirable 

Previous experience of working within the Further Education sector  ~ Desirable

Basic Food Hygiene Certificate  ~ Desirable

Attributes

Able to work as part of a team

Prepared to take responsibility for own tasks

Able to work without supervision

Good general health

 2.   Interviews will take place within two weeks of the closing date

As the College seeks to minimise obstacles caused by disability or disadvantage, the College will offer an interview to all disabled applicants who meet the criteria for the job. You are, therefore, requested to identify any special arrangements you may wish us to make in order that we may assist you and, in confidence, you should telephone Human Resources on (01789) 417323 or (01789) 417448.

Further, the College does not discriminate between internal and external applicants and those who most closely meet the criteria specified in the person specification will be invited to attend for interview. In addition to a formal interview, you may be required to undertake a short exercise relevant to the duties of the post for which you have applied and/or be required to deliver a mini lecture.

3.    Appointments

At the conclusion of the interview process, candidates will be notified of the outcome as soon as possible. At this point, it is hoped that any candidate who receives an offer of employment will be able to give an immediate verbal answer. Assuming acceptance, the College will confirm in writing the offer of appointment together with a provisional salary and start date.

All offers of employment made by the College are subject to the following:

1. Documentary evidence of qualifications and verification of date of birth.

2. Documents evidencing proof of permission to work in the UK. Copies of these documents will be retained for the duration of your employment.

3. Two references satisfactory to the College, one should be from either a current or previous employer.

4. Evidence of medical fitness. Following interview, successful candidates will be required to complete a medical questionnaire after which they may be required to undergo a medical examination and/or chest X-ray.

5. Completion of a satisfactory 12 months probationary period.

6. Criminal Records Bureau clearance satisfactory to the College for which you will be asked to supply the following:

A Passport, Driving Licence, Birth Certificate and Marriage Certificate and/or Change of Name Deed (if appropriate) and two items of documentation confirming your current address, eg utility bills, bank/credit card statement or library card.
