A Day in the Life of An Apprentice
A Day in the Life of a Customer Service Assistant (CSA) by Daniel Hunt
As customer service assistants our days are always varied, although our one constant is the briefing which takes place at the beginning of each shift. This enables us to be informed about what is going on within the building on that particular day. This includes:
-
Hospitality & events
-
The number of disabled patrons in the building
-
Attendance numbers
-
Any special show requirements
During the briefing, each CSA is allocated a position which may include:
-
Auditorium Doors
-
Cloakroom
-
Merchandise
-
Sales Kiosks
-
Programme Desk
These positions are kept during the first half of the performance. Some CSA’s will swap positions ready for the interval, i.e.:
-
Programme Desk --> Ice Cream Freezer
-
Cloakroom --> Ice Cream Freezer
-
Door E --> Ice Cream Tray
The majority of the positions require cash handling and stock control experience which many of us have acquired over the years.
Working within the Birmingham Hippodrome is an exciting and rewarding experience which constantly tests our skills and customer service etiquette.
