Introduction

FOOTBALL ACADEMY - In association with Coventry City Football Academy and Stratford Town Football Club

(Full-time, 1 year course)

This exciting new Football Academy will be based at the fantastic new DCS Stadium, the home of Stratford Town Football Club, in Knights Lane, Tiddington, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, CV37 7BZ.

The course will be run by highly advanced UEFA coaches with a background in professional football and teaching.

Skills and Techniques:
You will receive a minimum of eight hours per week in practical training and fitness related activities. Allied to this will be weekly League and Cup games in college competitions.

Knowledge and Understanding:
You will need to demonstrate the following:

  • How to plan and prepare a session

  • How to organise players

  • How to brief and de-brief players

  • How to set up an area safely

  • Dealing with accidents and emergencies

  • NVQ in Coaching, Teaching and Instructing Association Football
  • 1st4Sport FA Level 1 Coaching Certificate
  • 1st4Sport FA Level 2 Coaching Certificate
  • Child Protection
  • First Aid
  • Fitness
  • Nutrition
  • Health and Safety
  • Planning and Preparation
Areas of Study – Other: (To be taught/held at Stratford-upon-Avon College)
  • Functional Skills in English, Mathematics and ICT at Level 2 (A-C GCSE)
  • Weekly tutorials

Entry Requirements

Places in the Football Academy will be offered following a successful interview and trial.

Tuition Fees(Cost)

This course is FREE to all 16-19 year old students.

Progression Route

Following Year 1 there will be an opportunity to complete a further programme of study in the sports sector.

Other Information

There will be an early opportunity to use your qualification by delivering and gaining experience in schools and sport centres.
