Higher Education

What will I pay?

Fees / Student Finance

All Higher Education students from the UK or EU can apply to Student Finance for help with paying their course fees.

Full-time students can apply for:

  • a Tuition Fee Loan to cover tuition fees (the cost of your course)
  • a Maintenance Grant/Maintenance Loan to help with living costs

Part-time students can apply for:

  • a Fee Grant to help with tuition costs
  • a Course Grant to help with study costs

The amount you are able to apply for will be dependent on the year of your course, your income, your parents’ or your spouse’s income and where you live. Student loans are repaid after you graduate according to how much you are earning. Repayment will be collected by employers on behalf of the Inland Revenue. If you are lucky enough to qualify for a Grant, you will not have to pay this money back.

Full details about the funding available for higher education can be found at:

www.direct.gov.uk/studentfinance|

The deadline for applications to Student Finance is usually set in the May previous to the start of your course eg, May 2011 for courses starting in September 2011.

Full-time international (non EU) students who wish to study on a higher education programme, will be required to pay the full academic fee. Fees are subject to change so please confirm before you apply.
