Stratford-Upon-Avon
Stratford-upon-Avon, famous the world over as the birthplace of William Shakespeare, is one of England’s most historic and vibrant towns. Each year the town welcomes hundreds of thousands of visitors from around the world. Here you can walk the streets where Shakespeare spent his childhood, visit the Birthplace Museum and of course attend a performance at one of the Royal Shakespeare Company’s theatres.
Stratford-upon-Avon’s popularity does not just rely on its historical connections. Students will find a lively, modern community with high quality shops and a range of evening entertainment. There are theatres, bars, clubs, cafes and restaurants to suit every taste and all within walking distance of the College. The town also boasts a cinema and a modern leisure centre with a wide range of sports facilities.
Coventry
Coventry is a friendly, cosmopolitan city with a population of around 300,000. It is famous for its stunning cathedrals and motor industry manufacturing. The city is also home to both Warwick and Coventry universities, and has a long history and architecture that dates back to the 14th century. The city won a RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects Award) in 2004 for the regeneration of the city centre. As part of the regeneration of the city, Coventry now boasts a 32,000 capacity football stadium at the Ricoh arena, home to Coventry Football Club.
There is a variety of entertainment and culture in the city. There are good shopping facilities, fashionable restaurants, parks and gardens, theatres, museums and art galleries.
Surrounding Areas
There is plenty to do within a short drive from Stratford-upon-Avon and Coventry. Warwick Castle is just over 9 miles away and the bustling city centre of Birmingham is within easy reach. London is a couple of hours away by a frequent, direct train service making it easy to visit the capital for a weekend.
