Unique international programme at HEIA

TFPHospitalityManagementinsert3Sem

The Heart of England International Academy (HEIA) has recently launched a unique and exciting programme that no other college in the UK currently offers.

The Transnational Foundation Programme in Hospitality Management is a brand-new programme offered in conjunction with the Institute of Vocational Education (IVE) Haking Wong, Hong Kong. The programme provides students with international Higher Education opportunities, accredited qualifications both in Hong Kong and in the UK in the area of Hospitality Management, as well as the opportunity to experience two very distinct cultures in two leading international cities, Hong Kong and Stratford-upon-Avon on one programme.

The comprehensive education and training programme creates a vast number of opportunities for students. Not only will they gain an understanding of international hotel operations but during the course, students will undertake a paid UK work experience internship which allows them to apply their learning in the world of work and will increase their employment prospects as well.

Over a 12 or 18 month period, students will study in Hong Kong and at Stratford-upon-Avon College in Stratford-upon-Avon in the Midlands. Going abroad is often a daunting step for a young student as they will have to adapt to a whole new environment, a different culture and probably the most difficult of all - a different language, all whilst studying on a Higher Education programme. However, this course has been carefully designed and will help students to become fluent in the English language and will greatly improve their IELTS score. The international office at Stratford-upon-Avon College is staffed by an experienced team dedicated to supporting the needs of international students including arranging suitable accommodation and providing guidance and support throughout their study-time.

At the end of the course, there are excellent Higher Education progression opportunities to UK and Hong Kong education institutions and fantastic employment prospects in the hospitality and related industries in both Hong Kong and London. Stratford-upon-Avon College was the first college in the country to receive the Training Quality Standard with excellence in hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism which highlights the College’s outstanding reputation in this field and its excellent work with employers.

Kay Taylor, Vice Principal, Business Development, commented “Our agreement with IVE Haking Wong and this new transnational foundation programme is as a result of close and productive partnership relationships built over a considerable period of time between high quality vocational institutions and between dedicated senior managers who believe in providing young people from around the globe a true transnational education experience.”

The Heart of England International Academy is a collaborative partnership between Stratford-upon-Avon College and City College Coventry. HEIA offers a wide range of programmes to students across the world from A Levels, international foundation programmes, English language courses through to the degree level programmes. Students from 47 countries are currently attending the Heart of England International Academy including France, Germany, the United States of America, Brazil, Canada, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, South Korea and China.
