Stratford-upon-Avon College students celebrate the 19th Adult Learners’ Week this month.
Adult Skills Development students will have their work displayed in the college library during Adult Learners’ Week which runs from 15th – 21st May 2010. The students participated in a story writing competition which was run by the BBC, in conjunction with the BBC’s One Show, earlier this year. Each student was tasked with writing a story entitled ‘My Story’ which had to be based on an event they had experienced themselves. The writing for the competition formed the basis of a series of lessons which showed the learners how to plan, draft and edit a piece of writing. Each story was then submitted to the competition and displayed online.
Dawn Clark, lecturer at the college commented, “The students thoroughly enjoyed writing their stories and were delighted to see their work displayed on the BBC’s website.”
Adult Learners’ Week is the UK’s largest and longest running learning campaign. The week is held each May and encourages thousands of adults, whatever their age and background, to give learning a go.
