Hospitality and catering students from Stratford-upon-Avon College raise £500 for the MPS Society.
Hospitality and Catering students from Stratford-upon-Avon College have been donating their tips from the college restaurant to charity.
The students have raised £500 which they decided to donate to the MPS Society as one of the students, Sam Brockie suffers from MPS. The Society for Mucopolysaccharide Diseases is a voluntary support group founded in 1982, which represents from throughout the UK over 1200 children and adults suffering from Mucopolysaccharide and Related Lysosomal Storage Diseases including Fabry Disease, their families, carers and professionals.
Ewen Thomas, student at the college commented, “We are very proud to be giving this donation to the MPS Society on behalf of the college’s hospitality and catering departments. Not only are we helping people who have MPS but the charity is also helping a student and close friend to many of us at the college. We are very pleased to know our donation is going to a very worthwhile cause and hope it goes on to help many other people.”
The college’s restaurant, known as the Academy Bar and Restaurant, is open to the general public for lunch Monday to Friday and most Tuesdays and Thursdays for dinner. With the guidance of their tutors, the students run the restaurant achieving tasks that are valuable to their course. Our final year students are often recruited to London’s top hotels including Claridge’s, The Ritz and The Savoy so come along and sample their culinary delights. Ring the reservations line on 01789 292117 to book a table.
