Taking inspiration from well-known British holiday destinations, old time Music Hall shows and popular forms of entertainment, a group of 19 enthusiastic and talented Performing Arts students have developed a variety show guaranteed to take you out of the winter blues and prepare you for the summer holidays! Fun for all the family!
The Gordon Vallins Studio is the college’s oldest performance venue and for this production it has been transformed into a seaside resort. A team of Theatre Design students have painted and dressed the venue, replicating a pier, beach (complete with beach huts), amusement arcade and even a ghost train! Audience members are invited to spend their five coins wisely, choosing from an array of slot machines and entertainment, including a Laughing Boy, Fortune Teller, Coconut Shy, Punch & Judy stall and Donkey Ride… of sorts!
A whole host of seaside-themed acts then follow, featuring stand-up comedy from a life-size Hot Dog! The Two Ronnies perform their ice-cream sketch and girl group ‘Gills Aloud’ perform a megamix of pop songs! Casts from The Little Mermaid, Bedknobs and Broomsticks and The Boy Friend are also on hand to perform favourite musical numbers, ‘Under The Sea’, ‘The Beautiful Briny Sea’ and ‘Sur le Plage’.
Performances are on Wednesday 10th, Thursday 11th and Friday 12th March at 1.30pm and 7.30pm. The production will be held in The Gordon Vallins Studio, located on the college’s campus. Tickets cost £5 and include five special coins to spend on entertainment! Seating is limited so be sure to get your tickets now! For ticket sales and more information, call the college on 01789 266245 between 9.00am - 5.00pm.
