Stratford-upon-Avon College music students visited Air Studios in Hampstead last month to gain first-hand knowledge from the industry’s foremost recording engineers.
Four students on the Higher National Diploma (HND) in Music Performance spent a day at the studios working as session musicians for a recording of music by Royston Hollyer, who works at the College as a Music Technician. Royston commented, “This has been a fantastic opportunity for our students to work at a professional level in a leading studio. I hope to take them back to the studio this month for the mixing sessions.”
Air Studios began in 1969 when George Martin left EMI to establish an independent recording complex in the heart of central London. It is one of the music successful studio operations in the world and is Britain’s premier scoring facility attracting some of the world’s biggest movie scores.
