Offstage Choices: Careers in Theatre and Live Music

OffstageChoices2010

From October to December this year, 25 venues across the country opened their doors to young teenagers for the National Skills Academy for Creative & Cultural’s Offstage Choices careers events.

Stratford-upon-Avon College, working in partnership with Langley School, Solihull, is delighted to be part of these national events and welcomed young people from the school to the Birmingham Hippodrome last month.

Students met and experienced the work of a number of professionals including lighting and sound technicians, stage managers and those working in marketing and front-of-house. All these professionals shared their tricks of the trade and offered the young people the chance to experience working outside of the spotlight.

Edward Pinner, Curriculum Area Manager for Performing Arts and Music at Stratford-upon-Avon College said, “As a Founder College of the National Skills Academy for Creative & Cultural, Stratford-upon-Avon College is part of a network of industry specialists in theatre, opera, live music events, festivals, further education college and training providers working together to develop and improve skills within the industry. Therefore the College is committed to providing further education and creative career choices to the next generation of skilled workers in offstage theatre and live music.”
