Stratford-upon-Avon College is proud to be joining the many organisations across the globe in support of the annual 'One World Celebration', an initiative to celebrate different cultures and diversity across the globe.

This year’s celebration will take place from Monday, 28th February, to Friday, 11th March, and kicks off with an Opening Parade across the College campus. Staff and students will be encouraged to wave the One World Flag and embark on a 20 minute march through the campus with various flash mobs along the way.

Other events during the two week period include International Women’s Day, Festival of Live Performance, Go Green Day (promoting energy saving) and launch of Fairtrade fortnight. From fancy dress and face painting, to talent shows and quizzes, there are many activities in place and with prizes to be won!

There will also be focus days on areas including ‘Religious Belief’, ‘Sexual Orientation’ and ‘Safeguarding’ with guest exhibitors from the Stratford-upon-Avon Interfaith Forum, Gideons International, Voluntary Action Stratford-upon-Avon District and Warwickshire Police. Students will have the opportunity to speak to these representatives for information, advice and support.

Head of Learner Services, Rosie Herbert, said “We are very much looking forward to this year’s One World Celebration and to the Calendar of Events in place. Last year’s celebration was a huge success and we received some excellent and encouraging feedback; we hope this year will be the same”.

The College would like to take this opportunity to thank the Stratford Picture House, LUSH and iL Bertorelli, for their contribution of vouchers and donations towards prizes in support of the celebration.
