Comedian and ex-student, Stuart Goldsmith| returns to Stratford-upon-Avon College on Thursday 17th November to perform his second solo show, Another Lovely Crisis.
Following the runaway success of his debut show,
The Reasonable Man
in 2010, Stuart returns this year with a show about one man’s fundamental inability to function without anxiety. Whether he's cheering up a distressed child, helping prevent a riot, or genuinely saving another human being's actual life, Stuart Goldsmith is excellent in a crisis. When the chips aren't down however, it's a very different story... When he doesn't have to cope – he can't cope!
So join Stuart as he thrives on the stress of organising illegal raves for five year-olds, becoming a plane crash obsessive and avoiding the unexpected consequences of dressing as a policeman. An exhilarating piece of pure stand-up about embracing your anxieties, learning to fit into the world… and getting tasered.
It’s been a busy year for Stu with nominations for Best Show at the Leicester Comedy Festival and Chortle Best Breakthrough Act in February and narrowly missing out on the grand final of ITV1’s Show Me The Funny in August. An experienced comedian, compere, warm-up artist and actor, Stuart has been performing as a stand-up for the last six years and has worked in clubs across the length and breadth of the UK. Stuart studied the A Level Drama Package| in 1994-6 at Stratford-upon-Avon College and performed his first street-show aged sixteen, having learned to fire-breathe, fire juggle and walk on broken glass. He later went on to become the Scottish National Busking Champion and was placed third in the World Busking Championships in 2008. His writing credits include Radio 2’s Out To Lunch and BBC7’s Play & Record and Witty & Twisted. He is also one half of the highly successful Kiosk of Champions who received critical acclaim at Edinburgh Festival 2009. As a stand-up comic, Stuart has supported Mark Watson and Paul Sinha on tour and warmed up TV studio audiences for Miranda, The IT Crowd, 2 Pints of Lager, Coming of Age, We Need Answers and The Stephen K Amos Show.
Of his time at the College, Stuart said, “Stratford-upon-Avon College is an incredible place and gave me an astonishing professional grounding in both performance| and the ability to make work under my own steam, rather than waiting for someone else to give it to me.
“I am thrilled to be back at the College once again performing the work I am most proud of.”
