Art and Design is a stimulating and demanding area of study.
It combines practical work with academic skills.
On this course you will study:
A stimulating and exciting subject that combines practical, technical and theory based skills. Learners are able to develop a personal approach to the process of researching, developing ideas and making photographic images. Learners are encouraged to link their ideas to current issues in society and to put into practice the application of the taking and making of images both with, and without cameras.
Developing ideas through sustained study is a core element. You will learn about composition, depth of field and experimental techniques to show understanding of how ideas, feelings and meanings are conveyed and interpreted in images.
Units 1 and 2 are assessed internally by the lecturer, supported by a visit from an external AQA moderator at the end of the academic year. Learners produce a sketchbook/folder of work that demonstrates the ability to sustain work from initial starting points to the realisation of intentions.
