Where will this course lead?

A two-hour lesson each week for the duration of the course.

What will I study?

We will aim to cover the following topics*:

  1. Greetings; introducing yourself; asking someone how they are; different ways to say 'you' in Spanish; simple pronunciation and sounds (alphabet); introduction to masculine and feminine words.
  2. Spelling your name; nationalities; countries; jobs
  3. Languages; numbers; present tense
  4. Family; ser and estar; more on articles
  5. Ordering drinks/snacks; paying the bill
  6. More on ordering drinks/snacks; menus
  7. Asking where something is; numbers 100-1000; saying where you live and work; present tense practice
  8. Revision

*Topics covered are subject to change based on class ability and course duration.

How will I be assessed?

This course is for personal development and is informally assessed by the tutor with self-assessment and evaluation by the student.

What are the entry requirements?

Having never studied Spanish before, you will have very little or no knowledge of the language. During the course, you will learn how to introduce yourself, how to make simple enquiries and familiar everyday words and expressions.
