Where will this course lead?

Our Advanced Early Years Educator Apprenticeship is a work-based learning programme which is aimed at learners aged 16 or above who can start immediately or anytime in the year. This qualification will be ideal for candidates who are either looking to work in the industry or wishing to. Upon achievement, learners will be able to enter the workforce as an early years educator, and progress further in various jobs such as practitioner in day nurseries, practitioner in nursery school, practitioner in reception classes in primary school and many more.

What will I study?

By doing this qualification you will gain and extend your knowledge further which will allow candidates to work with children from birth to 5 years, and give you knowledge of children aged 5 to 7 years.

How will this course be delivered?

The modules are delivered by specialist staff using a range of teaching techniques (lecturers, seminars, workshops, 1-1, practical's); the teaching and learning activities are designed to develop your knowledge, understanding and skills for success.                             

This course is employment based with college attendance. To achieve the Diploma, you will be required to complete a series of units which are then assessed in conjunction with observations in the workplace. This is to ensure you are able to demonstrate practical skills and knowledge in a real setting.

What qualifications will I get?


CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Early Years Educator.

How will I be assessed?

To achieve the Diploma element of this course, you will be required to complete a series of units which are then assessed in conjunction with observations in the workplace.

Assessments are designed and delivered in the context of realistic workplace situations and might include a range from the following throughout the duration of the programme.

  • Presentations
  • Work-based learning
  • Practical exercises
  • Short tests
  • Written reports and essays
  • Project and dissertation

Each unit can be assessed at Pass, Merit or Distinction levels, which are combined at the end of the qualification to give an overall grade of Pass, Merit or Distinction for the qualification.

What are the entry requirements?

You will need to be at least 16 years of age and be working in the Early Years sector with some industry experience.

You will also need to have achieved GCSEs at grades A* - C in Maths and English. If not, you will need to complete Level 2 functional skills in Maths and English alongside your Diploma.

What else do I need to know?

College attendance is required for 24 weeks one afternoon a week term time only as well as observations in the workplace. 
DBS will be required and need to be shown.
350 work/ placement hours will be required with time in baby room as well as 2-3 and 3-5 age groups.
The course duration is 18 months in total.

· practitioner in reception classes in primary schools

· pre-school worker.
