Studying a Level 2 Cambridge Technical Diploma in Health and Social Care will aid progression to further study and prepare learners to enter the workplace in due course. In the health and social sector, typical employment opportunities may include working as an apprentice or in a supervised entry role, depending on specific job requirements and age restrictions.
You will develop knowledge and understanding by applying your learning and skills in a work-related context.
You will study various topics. The units of study are as follows:

- Individual rights in health and social care,
- Individual needs in health and social care,
- Ensuring safe environments in health and social care,
- Vocational experience in a health and social care setting,
- Cultural diversity in health and social care,
- Anatomy and physiology for health and social,
- The impact of diet on health,
- Emergency care in health and social care,
- Social policy awareness in health and social care,
- Safeguarding awareness.
The level 2 qualification will be delivered through taught and practical sessions.

Through assignments, practical activities, presentations, online assessments and work experience.
Places are offered by 1-1 interview with a member of the Health and Social Care team and a positive reference and report from your last educational establishment.
2 GCSEs at grade D / grade 3 or above including English Language, or; 2 GCSEs at grade D / grade 3 or above and Level 1 or 2 Functional Skills English, or; Level 1 qualification in a relevant vocational subject and either GCSE English Language at grade D / grade 3 or above or Level 1 or 2 Functional Skills English.
An enhanced DBS is essential for the course as you are attending placements with vulnerable people. This is needed before you can start the placements.
You are also expected to wear a uniform at placement. This is available to purchase from the Health and Social Care department.
If you haven't achieved an A - C or 4 grade in maths at GCSE or a level 2 functional skill you will be working towards these qualifications during your time on the course.

Learners who enrol on Health and Social Care courses are required to wear uniforms, complete a DBS check and attend trips. These additions will require a contribution from the student; costs available prior to enrolment.
