What will I study?

Contemporary Dance has its origins in the mid-20th Century and explores the full range of movement for the body from grounded floor work to elevation and travelling. This course is designed to introduce participants to the key features of various Contemporary techniques such as Graham, Cunningham, Humphrey and Release as well as developing individual creativity through choreographic workshops. A great course for those studying GCSE, A Level or BTEC dance as well those with a more general interest in performance and choreography.

How will this course be delivered?

Classes will start with exercises to develop physical skills in the different Contemporary techniques and will progress to more complex sequences to build stylistic and interpretative qualities. Classes will finish with a choreographic workshop to explore different stimuli, broaden each participant's creative vocabulary and learn choreographic principles to explore creative potential.

What qualifications will I get?

No formal qualification is associated with the course.

How will I be assessed?

No formal assessment is provided, however feedback and guidance within taught sessions is given

What are the entry requirements?

No experience of Contemporary Dance is needed however students of GCSE, A Level or BTEC/UAL Dance will find the course will enhance their studies.
