Do you already hold a level 3 qualification or have a good level of experience within music? 

Have you considered higher education (HE), but afraid that your academic and music performance & production skills may hold you back? 

If so, then this is the course for you... 

This is a unique course set up to provide continued skills development for students who wish to advance their music performance & production abilities before auditioning for music college, higher education and musical employment. The course continues skills development and provides support for application and audition preparation. 

You will work with like-minded musicians to build your skills and contacts with a premise of working as a professional within the music industry.

What will I study?

The course is tailored to meet the needs of students from age 18+ who have the capability to pursue degree-level training in music performance and/or production.  

You will develop your skills in the following areas: music theory, composition, performing, the music industry, sound design, sound recording, sound engineering and Live Sound, Music Business and Events Management. 

You will work closely with lecturers and industry professionals towards a variety of projects, helping you to develop your strengths and weaknesses to become a confident musician or producer. Enabling you to obtain a place on a H.E. course you what, or a career within the music industry. 

How will this course be delivered?

The course is classed as a full-time programme and runs from September to June. The majority of the programme is delivered through practical sessions, tutorials, rehearsal and performances.

What qualifications will I get?

UAL Level 4 Professional Diploma in Performance

How will I be assessed?

The course is assessed through practical music performance/production projects and supportive portfolio showing evidence of planning, research and evaluation.  

The course consists of 3 Units which will focus upon building your ability across a broad area of the musical spectrum. Work will largely be student driven with a keen interest in building a your independent learning skills and ability to manage projects, whilst expanding your teamworking skills. 

How do I get a place on the course?

On receipt of an application, students will be contacted to confirm a date for their audition and interview. Audition information will be provided at this time. 

*Covid intake year* If you already hold a level 3 in music at grades Merit or Distinction or A to C at A Level, then no audition process is necessary!

What are the entry requirements?

You will need: music performance/production skills necessary to produce and perform to a professional standard; commitment and a passion towards creating high quality performance work.

What else do I need to know?

Students will be fully funded if they are 18 when starting the course.* 

*Free of charge if you are aged 18 at the start of the course. If not, a fee of £4,200 will apply. 

This course is eligible for a 19+ Learner Loan.
