Following the Prime Minister’s announcement on 22 February, around the return of learners to schools and colleges from 8 March 2021, this message outlines our plans around testing and re-opening.
The College is expected to organise 3 Covid tests for students. We have close to 1,000 full time learners. As you can imagine, administering nearly 3,000 tests for students is quite an undertaking. Colleges have been given some flexibility in terms of phasing opening, so that we can ensure learners have their first test before they re-enter the classroom.
The test is voluntary, but we would strongly encourage everyone to take it.
Plans for week commencing 8th March
The week commencing 8th March will therefore be an on-line teaching week in order to enable us to administer tests for students before we re-open classrooms.
Early next week we will inform students of their allocated date and time for their first test, which will be during the week commencing 8 March. We will notify you via text, email and will also notify parents where appropriate.
We ask all learners therefore to please keep an eye on the website, your college email and the student hub for further information.
After their first Covid tests, students should return home straight away. As Monday 15th March is an inset training day, we will be returning to classroom based provision from Tuesday 16 March 2021.
Our admissions team is working remotely to process all applications. These can be submitted as normal through the website. Select your course of interest, click ‘Apply now’ and follow the instructions.
We are in a constantly evolving situation so please keep checking the website and student hub for updates.
