Where will this course lead?

You will have improved your skills with cake decorating and be able to use a variety of cake decorating techniques.

What will I study?

1 Introduction to course, making a piping bag, using royal icing, piping letters/name/slanted writing, over-piping, making a leaf bag and piping leaves.

2 Covering a cake with sugar paste icing, garret frills, carnations and using crimpers.

3 Colouring icing to make a marbled effect, roses and leaves.

4 Using royal icing to pipe filigree, brush embroidery and using templates.

5 Novelty cake - Beer can cake

6 Christening items: pram, teddy bear and bootees.

How will this course be delivered?

Practical class based work lead by tutor demonstration; some designs may have to be completed at home. This course is delivered at the Stratford Upon Avon campus (CV37). Also available at Woodlands (B36)  and Blossomfield B91) campuses.

What qualifications will I get?

This is a personal enrichment programme. 

How will I be assessed?

This course is for personal development and is informally assessed by the tutor with self-assessment and evaluation by the student.

What are the entry requirements?

Students must be aged 19+.

What else do I need to know?

The tutor will inform you on the first session of any tools and equipment that are required. She will also have a list of suppliers where these will be available. You can use ready-made cakes or dummies to decorate.

Please note: Materials are not supplied for Cakes, Flowers/Floristry, Textiles, Soft Furnishings, Homemade Crafts, Calligraphy, Art, Cookery, Tiling, Painting & Decorating, Sewing or Dressmaking.

Students are responsible for providing their own ingredients and some equipment. 

This course will run subject to a minimum class size.
