Acting students from Stratford-upon-Avon College showed their respect to famous British playwright Noel Coward in a performance at the College recently.
Level 3 acting students showcased their talent in their performance of ‘Bunch of Cowards’, which is a compilation of ‘Private Lives’, ‘Blythe Spirit’ and ‘Present Laughter’, written by Noel Coward.

The play, set on a cruise ship, involved a self-obsessed actor and his crazed fans, a séance gone wrong and turbulent marriages. ‘Bunch of Cowards’ seamlessly intertwined the three plays, a testament to the skill and professionalism of the actors.
The socialite couple Charles and Ruth Condamine were perfectly portrayed by William Fulleylove and Ellie Buckingham, who had great chemistry on stage. The haunting spirit of ex-wife Elvira, played by Maise Jones, captivated the audience with witty one-liners and a brazen attitude. The eccentric clairvoyant, Madame Arcati, was expertly executed by Eliana Wilkinson who captured the crazy energy needed for the role.
Cruise ship guests Elyot and Sibyl, played by Harry Rayson and Molly Shuttleworth, and Amanda and Victor, played by Eden Taylor and Reece Jones, all had strong stage presences and bounced off each other well, showcasing their tumultuous relationships expertly.
Mackenzie Griffen starred as the self-obsessed actor Garry Essendine. Mackenzie demonstrated incredible skill, highlighting what he has learnt through his years at the College. Crazed fan Daphene was played by Molly Shutterworth who showed incredible range between her two roles. Roland Maule, aspiring playwright, played by Eden Andrews, used impressive facial expressions and intentional over the top acting to show the obsessiveness of this character. The hilarious secretary Monica was performed by Lily Jones, who had an infectious energy every time she was on stage.

The whole Acting group played an important part in bringing this amazing play together. Alongside the actors, Level 3 Technical Theatre students created the set, operated the sound, lights and stage management fabulously.
Well done to all involved!
