An apprentice from Stratford-upon-Avon College is ecstatic to achieve a Distinction following the completion of her apprenticeship with the world-renowned Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC).
Aine Brown, 20 from Redditch, took on a Level 3 Live Events Apprenticeship and after arranging successful events and being shortlisted for an Apprenticeship Impact Award at college, she has achieved a Distinction for her overall result.
Aine has always been more interested in learning practically than sitting in a classroom and discovered the world of Events when she was 16 working in hospitality. Therefore, it made complete sense to her to follow an apprenticeship route rather than go to university.
This apprenticeship has been a great experience for her, with incredible opportunities for learning and discovery throughout with many chances to challenge herself: “My favourite part of doing my apprenticeship was hosting my own National Apprenticeship Week Event. I had the opportunity to create and manage an event as part of my apprenticeship. Being able to see an event go from an idea to being executed was amazing and knowing that I did it all on my own was a very proud moment for me. This event also got me nominated and shortlisted for an award at the College.”
She is pleased with the support she had from the College: “The College has been amazing throughout my time with them. They have supported me through all of my coursework and event planning and helped me plan and prep for my End-point Assessment, which landed me a distinction.”
The College is incredibly proud of Aine’s result. Creative Bootcamp Manager, Sophie Jolly, commented: “Aine’s drive and dedication throughout the programme have been exceptional. Her distinction reflects the effort she consistently brought to everything she did.”
Working at the RSC has been an incredible experience for Aine with a range of wonderful learning experiences: “I have been able to work on a vast range of events and work with some amazing people across the organisation. I have been able to meet people I never thought I would meet before like Dame Judi Dench and Sir Ian McKellen! Having these opportunities has given me confidence in myself and the confidence that events are exactly what I want to carry on doing.”
Taking the apprenticeship route has been extremely beneficial for Aine: “As an apprentice, I have benefited from gaining hands-on, real-world experience that has helped me develop practical skills and confidence in the workplace. I’ve learned how to apply what I’m taught, work professionally with others, manage my time, and take responsibility for my work. Being guided by experienced colleagues has also helped me understand industry expectations and has given me a clearer idea of my strengths and future career goals.”
The RSC’s Early Careers Manager, Kieran Corrigan, was delighted with Aine’s result: “Aine achieving a Distinction is a fantastic result and a real credit to her hard work, commitment, and professionalism throughout her apprenticeship. She’s grown enormously in confidence and skill, and it’s been a pleasure to see her develop within a real working environment while contributing to the organisation.”
He also details the importance of apprenticeships within the creative industries: “Apprenticeships play a vital role in supporting our industry by opening up accessible routes into careers that might otherwise feel out of reach. They allow people to learn on the job, earn while they train, and develop industry-specific skills in a practical, supportive way.”
Now Aine has finished her qualification, she is ready to continue towards her dream of working in corporate events.
