Where will this course lead?

Learners can progress to the Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care or the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care. Learners may also progress onto qualifications for management or lead practitioner roles in adult care, or to specialist qualifications reflecting the context in which they work.

Learners can also progress into employment in residential or nursing homes, domiciliary care, day centres or some clinical healthcare settings within job roles such as:
• Senior Care Support Worker
• Lead Personal Assistant.

What will I study?

This qualification will provide you with the knowledge and skills needed when working in a lead adult care worker role in care settings. It covers a wide range of topics including:

 · supporting individuals with their physical and emotional care

· daily living needs

· health and social care procedures

· supporting individuals with dementia

· promoting mental health and well-being.

 

The qualification contains both mandatory and optional units allowing you to tailor the qualification to meet your needs, interests, preferred progression paths and the context of your job role. You must achieve 9 mandatory units (28 credits) and 30 credits from the optional units to achieve a minimum of 58 credits. At least 35 of these credits must be at Level 3 or above. Upon achievement of this qualification, you could progress to a variety of lead adult care worker roles in care settings or to further education. You may progress to the Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care. You may also progress onto qualifications for management or lead practitioner roles in adult care, or to specialist qualifications reflecting the context in which you work.

What are the entry requirements?

Be over the age of 16 years old and be working in the care sector. Also need employers permission to do the course as it involves workplace assessments.

What else do I need to know?

The course fee is £2,882 which can be paid for by applying for Gov.uk Advanced Learning Loan if you are over 19 years old and earn under £25,725, all of your course cost can be paid in full.

What can I do after this course?

Through this qualification, you will gain the knowledge, understanding and skills required when working as a lead adult care worker in care provision. You can progress into employment in residential or nursing homes, domiciliary care, day centres or some clinical healthcare settings within job roles such as:
