A Uniformed Protective Services (UPS) student from Stratford-upon-Avon College recently celebrated receiving top marks upon completion of their two-year qualification.
Amelia Hadley, 19 from Warwickshire, was delighted to receive the highest grade for a vocational qualification, a Distinction Star.
Though she knew this was her goal, Amelia was unsure of her specific career path, so choosing to study a UPS course was the perfect way for her to gain more understanding of the services involved. She comments: “At the time of starting the course, I did not know much about the services, so I believed this course would provide me with the necessary knowledge and a good understanding of what roles may look like. The course helps and encourages students to build confidence and teamwork skills which I believed were both essential to myself and any aspiring students wishing to join the Uniformed Services. It was also useful to learn from the college lecturers with their own personal experiences.”
Amelia details how the practical elements of the course have been a particular highlight: “I have enjoyed everything on the course, but in particular the adventurous trips and the role-playing scenario sessions are my best memories.”
Receiving her outstanding result was wonderful for Amelia: “I was delighted and shocked when I received my result, and it was a great way to end an amazing 3 years.”
Following her amazing news, she is now hoping to do some part-time work and volunteering for the rest of the year before looking at her next step. She adds: “I would like to go abroad and volunteer as well as doing some travelling to continue enhancing my confidence and support vulnerable people – and then aim to join a Uniformed Service early next year.”
