A mature Make Up student from Stratford-upon-Avon College has been juggling it all during her time at the College.
Kate Pratletto, a mum of three, was invited on to Cotswold radio in December to speak about her experience.

Kate has been working toward her dream of becoming a bridal make-up stylist over the last few years. Before joining the College, she worked as an apprentice at Toni & Guy, a make-up artist at Clinique and completed several cosmetic courses.
Kate started studying at the College this September, after her youngest child started school. She commented: “It’s never too late to do anything. We are all here for the same thing, we just want to learn. Age shouldn’t stop that.”

Kate decided to study at the College after hearing good things from friends and ex-tutors about the courses that it offers.
“The College have been really understanding of my situation; they have always stayed in contact with me and have allowed me to make adjustments that makes parenting and studying easier.”
Currently on the Level 2 course, Kate wants to progress onto a Level 3 course at the College and eventually open her own salon. She finally feels confident enough to do so: “It’s an all-round course; it gives you the foundations to help you understand the basics of hair and make-up. Despite having other qualifications, I didn’t really feel confident enough to open a salon until I started this course.”
“I’d recommend this course to anyone interested in starting a career in beauty. It’s practical but there is also theory which really helps you understand the practical stuff much better. It’s really helped my confidence.”
