Musical Theatre and Backstage Production Arts students from Stratford-upon-Avon College presented smash hit musical Legally Blonde Jr for their final production on their course.
What made this production even more unique is that the main four female leads were double cast, offering more students the chance to showcase their talent. And for the titular character, Elle Woods, the double casting really got us seeing double as the role was given to twin sisters Honor and Saffron Edwards.

The show was a masterclass in musical theatre, with students showing real pizzazz as they performed perfectly in pink. Showcasing singing, acting and dance talent, this cohort of students showed they have become real triple threats as performers during their time at college. The show was supported by the expert technical handling of the College’s Backstage Production Arts students who smoothly managed the set, costumes and mammoth amount of radio mics.
Real standout performances came from the whole set of sorority sisters. Aoibha Wellings as Warner Huntington the third showed suave charisma throughout. Zahara Johnson-Palmer and Libby Whitrod as Paulette both exhibited humour, warmth and extra snap which came in useful for the fun bend and snap routine.
Freddie Hobbis played the sincere and charming Emmet Forest and showcased stunning singing ability, a real one to watch.

But a huge mention must go to the super sisters Honor and Saffron who slayed as the perfectly positive Elle in alternating performances. Displaying powerhouse vocals, talent must run in the family as both of their performances were on point, funny, moving and a joy to watch.
Saffron was excited to be cast in the lead role for this show: “It was genuinely something I never thought would happen, I’ve done Legally Blonde once before and I never believed I would get the chance to do it again and as my dream role – I’m eternally grateful.” Honor was also delighted to be cast in the lead role and doubly pleased to be working alongside her sister: “I was absolutely thrilled to play the lead role in my final college show, Legally Blonde has always been a favourite show of mine and playing Elle was a dream role. Additionally, there is no one else I’d rather share this role with than my twin sister.”
