Stratford-upon-Avon College is delighted to have secured funding to strengthen and expand its construction skills offering, enabling more students to access industry-standard training to help meet growing demand for skilled workers across the region.
The nearly £4M of funding from the Post-16 Construction Skills Capacity Fund will allow the College to expand its facilities and refurbish existing campus areas to support construction skills growth across a range of subjects including Construction, Plumbing and Electrical Installation.
The additions to the campus will include a new two storey building for brick/carpentry/multi craft, a new bricklaying workshop, reconfiguration of current classroom facilities to support theory and assessment and an additional floor above the existing plumbing workshop to provide new workspace for Electrical Installation students.
Director of Estates, Michelle Doughty, is thrilled to announce the success of the funding bid. She comments: “Our estate plays a vital role in supporting high-quality education. This investment will transform the learning environment at Stratford-upon-Avon College, creating opportunities for more learners to develop the construction skills that are in growing demand.”
The investment builds on the College’s ongoing commitment to evolving its curriculum to meet industry demand. Over recent years, the College has expanded its technical and vocational offering to include courses in Motor Vehicle, Construction, Plumbing and Electrical Installation, providing students with clear pathways into skilled careers. The College has also continued to enhance its facilities to ensure students learn in industry-standard environments, including the recent development of an Electric Vehicle Training Academy and a Heat Pump Training Facility.
