Supported Interns hold successful fundraiser

12th May 2026

Supported Interns from Stratford-upon-Avon College recently raised money for several worthy causes by holding a fundraising event at a top local hotel.

The event was hosted at Crowne Plaza Stratford-upon-Avon who are also an employer for the College’s Supported Internship programme. The Interns each held different stalls where they could raise money for their chosen charity and give out information about what their job as Supported Interns entailed.

Supported Internships are designed for young people with SEND, offering hands on work experience alongside tailored study and one to one support from a dedicated job coach. The College works with a range of different employers to create these wonderful training opportunities.

Crowne Plaza Intern, Lauren, was the mastermind of the event and organised the stalls and smooth running of the team, plus she helped bake the incredible baked goods Interns were selling. Money raised will go to The Greatwood Charity, a charity that changes the lives of children and young adults through equine-based educational programmes that teach emotional literacy and life skills.

Compton Verney Interns James and Alex had taken a range of stunning photos of the grounds and wildlife at Compton Verney; 120 acres of stunning parkland surrounding an award-winning art gallery. Proceeds from their sales will go to the Compton Verney House Charity.

Supported Intern Andrew who works with sheep at several farms locally, was raising money by getting people to guess the name of his toy lamb, as well as sharing information about what Supported Internships are and what they offer. Proceeds from his fundraising will go to the Farm Safety Foundation.

The students were ecstatic to be working on this fundraising project. Lauren commented: “We were all doing things for a cause, something that was meaningful to each of us and we could be passionate about.” Plus, the work they have undertaken allowed them to put elements of their study modules into practise.

Job Coach, Rosie Parsons, commented on how proud she was of the Supported Interns achievements: “It was a real success, the interns did themselves and the Supported Internship Programme proud, raising £278.35 in total for their chosen charities. The event was a brilliant opportunity for the students to build on their employability skills and boost their confidence and independence. It was great to see them all talking about themselves, their charities and the Supported Internship with members of the public.”
